  • Johnny King

    Johnny King and Friends

In 2019, Johnny King and Blues Legend Tony (TC) Coleman embarked on a musical endeavor to capture King's catalog in its entirety. They discovered Skip Brown's Final Tracks Studios in downtown Roanoke, Virginia, and started making musical history all over again! The Multi-Disk Project has grown to include five separate disks, spanning across five different genres!

Tony Coleman performed live for the first time ever in Clifton Forge, Virginia, on October 18, 2019, at the Historic Masonic Theatre. Tony lead the band on vocals and drums, playing blues standards and select songs from his latest album!

This show has been arranged as a result of Johnny and Tony's friendship that has developed throughout the years. After phone calls they arranged to meet in Las Vegas, Nevada in August of 2010. Tony previously joined Johnny in his band for a farewell show at Freebird Live! in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. They also performed at the National Blues Museum in St. Louis, Missouri, as Johnny King and Friends in 2017.

Tony and Johnny were both mourning the loss of BB King, which opened up the hurt of one of their other favorite musicians, Buddy Miles, who played on Johnny King's album Dance Around It. As a result, you heard some tributes to BB King and Buddy Miles. They share common musical tastes.

Tony and Johnny also began to finally record their original music together. They managed to record some tracks on a new album at Final Tracks Studios in Roanoke, Virginia in the days following the performance.

Incidentally, a new song later arose from the October 18, 2019 show that was created from Tony candidly speaking to the audience on stage. The song later became "Political Blues" and included Grammy Award winner and fellow Blues Legend Bobby Rush on lead vocals and harmonica!

2019 was also the year Johnny established a new Blues Society in the Alleghany Highlands of Virginia.

  • Gentlemen South

    Gentlemen South

A band of Brothers, literally. Justin and Stephen Peery’s harmonic blend leave no question that music and singing runs in the Family. From a young age Justin stood stage side and watch his father and uncles perform as the Country Music group Mountain Thunder, of which Stephen also played the keys. Many years later, it’s their turn. Gentlemen South encompasses both Justin and Stephen’s unique Lyrical and Musical styles that produces their unforgettable music. Not to mention they are natural born entertainers.

Coming from Gospel backgrounds where both brothers grew up in Southern Churches mixed with a little country from the soul, and a dash of The Blues, its the recipe for what becomes Gentlemen South. Paired that with their talent stacked full band and back up vocals including their Dad and hang on for one heck of a show.

Currently the Duo is in the Studio working on their first major project with some amazing original songs that come from the heart. Its songs that we all can relate to and that’s why we believe you will gravitate to Gentlemen South as much as The Virginia Opry has since their induction in 2019.

Organizer Clyde McPhatter, BILL PINKNEY ), and Gerhart and Andrew Thrasher met while singing gospel. When Atlantic Records rejected McPhatter’s first offering of singers, these men joined forces, signed with the company, and established in 1953 the foundation upon which a music legacy was subsequently built.

Thirty five years later in 1988, originals MCPHATTER, PINKNEY, GERHART THRASHER and four later Drifters were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which filmed PINKNEY’s oral history in 2001 for its Legends Series.

  • Michael Hoover

    Michael Hoover tributes Elvis Presley

Michael was born in Washington, DC. He can remember learning Elvis songs and mimicking his styles as early as the second grade. He grew up in Rockville, Maryland, and graduated from Wheaton High School where he sang and put together a small band to play teen clubs and proms. Michael saw Elvis three times in concert, has all of his records, and has seen all of his movies. “Everyone has a hero – he was my hero and I wanted to be like him,” Hoover said.

After the untimely death of Elvis Presley in 1977, Michael was inspired to do his “Memories of Elvis” Show as a tribute to the King of Rock and Roll. Michael says, “There will never be another Elvis, and I would just like to bring back a few memories of the late King.” He has been performing for over 30 years and has developed into one of the finest male vocalists in the country. The similarity between Elvis and Michael in voice, mannerisms, and looks is astounding. Experiencing Michael’s “Memories of Elvis” show is the next best thing to seeing Elvis in concert.

  • Denise Glass

    Denise Glass tributes Pasty Cline

Denise Glass of Lee County, Virginia has always had a passion for classic country music - particularly the music of Patsy Cline. Glass began singing country music in her dad's band as a small child. Glass states, "I can't remember when I began loving Patsy Cline's music. I just always did."

The inspiration to do a Patsy Cline tribute show came when Denise first visited Patsy's home and final resting place in Winchester, Virginia. Glass put together and performed her first tribute show at Lee Theatre in Pennington Gap, Virginia to a packed house.

With the success of that first show, Glass decided to continue paying tribute to Patsy Cline and take her show out to other places. Glass has been busy performing all over Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Maryland and Pennsylvania.

Glass always tells her audience that she is not trying to be Patsy Cline because there is only one Patsy. The goal of every show is to make people smile and to bring back good memories for her audience. Glass's Tribute to Patsy Cline includes Glass performing Cline's biggest hits, intertwined with stories and costume changes.
